The Alexandra Aisling Interview
A conversation with AI Artist Alexandra Aisling, aka @AllaAisling on X
INTERVIEW CONDUCTED ON JUNE 29, 2024
MOST IMAGES BY ALEXANDRA AISLING ARE GENERATED USING COPILOT, BING’S IMAGE CREATOR, LEONARDO AND MIDJOURNEY UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE
Meet Alexandra Aisling (@AllaAisling on X), a fantastic AI artist from Canada whose work spans a beautiful and varied range of styles, from illustrations to paintings, and from 3-D models to hyper-realistic photo renderings.
I've always thoroughly enjoyed Alexandra’s approach to AI imagery, as her art is a showcase of her boundless creativity and versatility, and witnessing her embrace the medium and constantly push boundaries to explore new frontiers is a pure pleasure.
While her art often highlights the beautiful and elegant feminine, Alexandra is also the Queen of QT’s (Quote Tweet) and the Empress of great and fun Art Challenges, making her a true AI community builder on X. Known for her active, friendly, productive, and extremely creative presence, she stands alongside other great AI artists and explorers such as OtterFlyer (@otter805), Pamela (@Heartwords3) and LudovicCreator (@LudovicCreator), her unique and varied creations never failing to captivate and inspire.
The square format is her canvas (she almost exclusively works in a 1:1 ratio), and X is where she resides, and we all love her for it! The bottom line is that Alexandra enriches the AI art community with her dynamic and engaging contributions, making her a beloved figure among her peers. Her ability to delve into and master so many styles and subjects is a testament to her dedication and talent, and I am honored and grateful to have her join us for this interview.
Let’s discover Alexandra Aisling together.

Without getting too personal, can you tell us a bit about yourself?:
All my life I have tried to express my creativity in one way or another. I started painting with watercolors in my early school years, but my parents didn't encourage me, saying that being a painter is not a profession. I took a more practical route, but I never stopped drawing, painting, sewing, photographing, or cultivating an aesthetic sense. The advent of AI has given me the opportunity to pursue my passion and express my creativity in ways I never thought possible.
Could you please tell us which country you live in?:
I live in Canada.
What led you to begin working with AI imagery?:
I was drawn to AI imagery out of curiosity and for the desire to push the boundaries of creativity. I wanted to explore how technology could enhance creativity and provide new perspectives on traditional art forms. It’s exciting to experiment with a tool that constantly evolves and surprises me.
What AI tools do you use?:
The first AI program I tried was Dream by Wombo. Then I fell in love with Bing's Image Creator. Now I try every program to test its limits and styles, hoping to be pleasantly surprised every time. I have styles that I create only in Midjourney or in Ideogram, Leonardo, Meta Ai, and others. Lately I am more and more attracted to animation, so I try PixVerse, PikaLabs, Luma, Runway for my ideas. But for images I mostly use Copilot.
What inspires you?:
Innovation in art inspires me. I love experimenting with new tools and seeing how AI can redefine artistic boundaries. However, my biggest inspiration comes from the AI community on X. Lately I have been drawn to QT, which allows you to start with an idea/theme and create art in your own style.

In which other medium, if any, do you practice art?:
In the last years I stopped painting, although I discovered with great interest acrylic and especially acrylic pour, but due to lack of time and space I did not continue. I must admit that I miss it. However, I continue to draw with pencil on any piece of paper I can find.
Would you consider AI-generated art true art?:
This is a very thorny question that has generated so much controversy. AI-generated art is a collaboration between human creativity and machine capabilities, expanding the definition of art. AI challenges traditional notions and offers diverse perspectives that make us rethink what art can be. I believe that true art is about expression and evoking emotion, and AI-generated art achieves this in innovative ways. I also see AI as a new medium that artists use to express ideas, much like paint or clay.
Please share one or a few of your favorite images with us.:
I’ll share six. I mostly create women's portraits, but I also try to do landscapes, cute art, surreal and whimsical, in different styles and themes.

Do you title your AI-generated art? If you do, what inspires you to come up with these titles?:
No, my art is usually untitled. I feel that by giving it a title, I limit its potential. Each viewer understands an image and accepts it through his or her filter of values and past experiences. I let the image speak for itself and hope that the chosen theme can inspire others.
When do you tend to be the most productive, and do you work in long sessions or short bursts?:
I create images every time I have a new idea or find inspiration in what others have created. However, I don't post everything I create. X requires a constant presence on the platform, so I try to post images and different themes, always guided by my style. There are days when I create only a few images, mostly due to lack of time, while other days I spend hours trying to challenge my creativity and find a form for the ideas I have or have jotted down whenever they come up.

What type of prompts do you prefer: text or AI-generated descriptions through fed images?:
I prefer text prompts that I can tweak until I get the result I want. I have to admit that I have also come across some surprising results that made me even more curious. I try to adapt prompts that have not disappointed me to different themes and topics, as well as create new ones, just to see what results I get. Even if I find an image by a creator I like, I only use their idea, style or theme to create a prompt, I rarely use AI to create prompts after my repeated attempts have failed to produce the desired result.
When prompting with text, do you write simple text-based prompts or complex ones?:
When I do prompt shares, they are usually simple, keyword-based prompts that anyone can customize to their personal style. I share them mostly for inspiration and to try out new styles. Complex prompts tend to be very specific and harder to customize, in my opinion.
Do you think text-based prompts should be shared within the AI art community?:
I think every creator has their own strategy, especially on a platform like X. There are certain prompts that create images with a certain style and have been worked on to get that result. I don't think any creator shares those. But if we didn't share prompts, we wouldn't learn from each other. We all started from a prompt given by a creator we admire, so I don't think there would really be a community if we didn't share prompts so we could all learn and grow.
What is the most unconventional method you have used to create an image?:
I experimented with transforming poetry into visual art, using AI to visualize the emotions and themes in the text. Lately, I've been doing this more by using Suno to create songs with lyrics written by me and enhanced by AI.
How many images you have generated using AI technology?:
It's very difficult to give an exact number, but I think I have several hundred thousand images.

Is there any other online platform where we can view all of your previous work apart from X?:
Even though I tried other platforms, I focused my attention and time on sharing my creations on X.
In this world of cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), are you currently selling your digital art on any platform? If so, which platform are you using?:
No, I am not selling my art on any platform.
Are you selling tangible AI-generated artwork, such as high-quality prints like Giclée prints?:
I set up an Etsy account a while back, but due to lack of time, I haven't done as much as I would have liked to promote it and generate some income.
Could you suggest some AI artists you like that we could follow?:
For any emerging artist, and not only for innovative ideas, I would recommend accounts that share prompts like @techhalla, @umesh_ai, @muriellondon, @LudovicCreator, but it is very hard to limit yourself to just a few names and miss out on creators with fantastic, creative, innovative ideas and a unique style.
Is there anything else you would like to add or share with the AI community?:
Keep creating, share your art and style, appreciate the community, and be drawn to new ideas and AI programs that will inspire and challenge your creativity!
Good night!
