The Digiskar Interview
A conversation with AI Artist Digiskar, aka @DigiskarAi on X
INTERVIEW CONDUCTED ON DECEMBER 6, 2024
ALL IMAGES BY DIGISKAR ARE GENERATED USING MIDJOURNEY UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE
Step Into the World of Digiskar, a lighting artist and passionate art lover whose creations exist at the crossroads of painting, cinema, and fantasy. With no pretension, he shares his AI-generated works purely for the love of art, crafting images that echo the traditions of Dutch painting, Impressionism, and chiaroscuro. His world is one of contrasts—where darkness meets illumination, and where shadow and light tell stories beyond words.
At the heart of Digiskar’s art lies an obsession with light—how it sculpts form, enhances atmosphere, and creates an almost mystical presence. Whether it’s the glow of a fiery background hinting at power and destruction, or the golden light breaking through dense forests, his compositions guide the eye and the imagination. His themes often evoke mythology and fantasy, with majestic beings—gods, warriors, and supernatural creatures—emerging from darkness, exuding power and mystery. These figures, poised for battle or radiating divine presence, feel as though they have stepped out of legends, commanding their realms with an almost cinematic grandeur.
But Digiskar’s artistry is not limited to the epic. Some of his works take on a soft, painterly approach, capturing the quiet elegance of landscapes. Scenes of solitude and introspection unfold in tranquil winter or desert settings, where lone figures journey through snow-covered paths, and sandy backgrounds, bathed in the warmth of golden light. These compositions suggest transition, discovery, and a journey into the unknown—where each threshold crossed might lead to another world, another truth.
Through a high level of realism and intricate detailing, his work balances dark fantasy with moments of serene beauty. The interplay of shadow and illumination transforms his subjects, whether they are mythic warriors, celestial beings, or lone travelers in an unforgiving yet breathtaking landscape. Every piece speaks of transformation—emergence, rebirth, or the passage between realms—inviting the viewer into a world both mysterious and evocative.
Digiskar’s art is a testament to the power of light: its ability to reveal, to guide, to awe. His images resonate with a sense of scale and wonder, reminding us that even in the deepest shadows, there is brilliance waiting to be found. It’s an honor to feature him in this interview.
Let’s discover Digiskar together.

Without getting too personal, can you tell us a bit about yourself?:
I am currently a lighting artist in the video game industry. I worked for a few years in movies and TV shows before as a lighting artist, too. I studied art and have always been fascinated by painting and the way light is depicted, particularly in Impressionist works. I work exclusively in 3D, and with the emergence of AI, especially MidJourney, it allows me to express my creativity and stimulate myself in different ways while staying true to what I love.
Could you please tell us which country you live in?:
I live in France.
What led you to begin working with AI imagery?:
I've always been terrible at drawing. I started very late during my studies and didn’t have the courage to keep at it, especially since my job doesn’t require that skill. I've always loved painting and digital art, and I admire people who have the ability to express themselves through these mediums. When I discovered MidJourney, it felt like a revelation to me. A simple way to express myself while achieving the look and result I wanted. It helps me a lot, and I feel like it really stimulates my creativity. It allows me to explore and experiment with so many things.
What AI tools do you use?:
Midjourney to generate images and ChatGPT for a lot of things like research, generating code, and when I have a question to ask :)
What inspires you?:
Dutch painting, Impressionism, chiaroscuro, cinema, video games, photography, and quite simply shadow and light.

In which other medium, if any, do you practice art?:
Mostly CG tools: Unreal Engine, Autodesk Maya, Nuke, Photoshop...
And for I'm doing photograhy, too, and I love to use Lightroom for my pictures.
Would you consider AI-generated art true art?:
It's a complicated subject, and I completely understand the concerns about copyrights and so on. I just think that we all draw inspiration from one another, even without AI. If I had to create one of my images using my own skills, I would have drawn inspiration from the artists I love, trying to replicate what I admire in their works or simply taking influence from them. Let's say the line between copying and inspiration becomes problematic when it lacks addition or transformation.
Art is often perceived as a quest for originality, but this originality frequently rests on a foundation of shared influences. In art history, for example, this phenomenon was often tolerated, even expected. Artists have often drawn inspiration from one another, which could be seen as a form of "copying," though it’s usually more nuanced. This practice is ubiquitous and takes different forms depending on the eras, styles, and intentions involved.
Please share one or a few of your favorite images with us.:
Here are a few of my favorites:
Phoenix
Do you title your AI-generated art? If you do, what inspires you to come up with these titles?:
Yes, I always give a title to the images I've generated. I try to find a title that best summarizes what I’m trying to convey and what the subject of the generated image is.
When do you tend to be the most productive, and do you work in long sessions or short bursts?:
I work remotely, but I make a point of taking regular breaks to disconnect a little. During those moments, I mostly spend time on MidJourney. I find it incredibly stimulating to explore what can be generated.
Beauty and the beast
What type of prompts do you prefer: text or AI-generated descriptions through fed images?:
I use text prompt in 99% of the cases.
When prompting with text, do you write simple text-based prompts or complex ones?:
It depends on what I have in mind at the moment. Sometimes, I just have an idea, so I type one or several words and explore around them. Then, I refine, add more text, and sometimes reuse the style.
Do you think text-based prompts should be shared within the AI art community?:
Yes, why not? But for me, the fun and creative aspect of MidJourney lies in what you can manage to generate from an idea and how far you can push it to achieve the desired result.
I discovered a few days ago that you can use ChatGPT.
What is the most unconventional method you have used to create an image?:
After generating results from the initial description, I selected the most intriguing image and then re-ran it with slightly tweaked prompts (altering keywords, style, or subject matter). This allowed the creation to evolve organically.
How many images you have generated using AI technology?:
I have run 4,269 total jobs.
Please share your X (Twitter) handle with us.:
Tell us a bit about your X handle and X username.:
It's not very glorious; it's a mix of usernames I've already used, haha!
How many X followers do you currently have?:
Over 1,300 amazing and creative folks!
How many X accounts do you currently follow?:
275 (It's difficult to manage because I'm not that much on X, but I'm trying to follow as much as I can.)
How long have you been on X (Twitter)?:
Since recently, in October 2024.

Lost
Is there any other online platform where we can view all of your previous work apart from X?:
Yes, you can follow me on Instagram too. I prefer the gallery aspect of Instagram.
In this world of cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), are you currently selling your digital art on any platform? If so, which platform are you using?:
No. It's just a hobby for me; maybe one day I'll try to give a shot to NFTs.
Are you selling tangible AI-generated artwork, such as high-quality prints like Giclée prints?:
No.
Could you suggest some AI artists you like that we could follow?:
@Julian_cano_ (I really love the photography and cinematic style he generates.)
@AllaAisling
Is there anything else you would like to add or share with the AI community?:
Thank you to all the artists and the AI community for all the creations. It's so inspiring; I love sharing and seeing what people share, their worlds, their tastes, their inspirations. I wish you all the best and encourage you to keep creating :)
