The ELZA Interview

A conversation with AI Artist Elza, aka @ekdorenbosch on X

INTERVIEW CONDUCTED ON JUNE 29, 2024

ALL IMAGES BY ELZA ARE GENERATED USING WOMBO AI AND MIDJOURNEY UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE

In the enchanted realm of AI art, there exists Elza, or @ekdorenbosch on X, a fantastic artist who captivates viewers with her evocative creations. Her work is a delicate dance between intrigue and enigma, blending beauty with distorted memories and the anxiety of transformation. Each piece offers glimpses into the deep well of emotions that inspire her.

Elza's art embodies the stuff of dreams—a beautiful mix of anguish and transcendence, skillfully capturing the complexity of change, often balancing self-discovery and renewal. I, for one, believe her ability to channel pain into universally relatable visuals makes her work not only deeply personal but also profoundly moving, resonating with anyone who has felt loss or hope.

Her art is a testament to the transformative power of creativity, a peek into the shadowy realms of the human psyche. I am honored and grateful to have her join us for this interview.

Let’s discover Elza together.

QT uncomfortable

Without getting too personal, can you tell us a bit about yourself?:

I’m a huge fan of anything Cybernetic and Virtual Reality, which I use on my spiritual journey.

Could you please tell us which country you live in?:

I live in the Netherlands.

What led you to begin working with AI imagery?:

Using IMVU (Instant Messaging Virtual Universe) and SL (Second Life) chat platforms. I was also familiar with editing and modeling for creator ads and did some graphic design work. When AI generators were born, it was a marvelous chance to simplify work while getting much better results.

What AI tools do you use?:

I started with Dream by WOMBO AI, and Midjourney followed soon.

What inspires you?:

Spirituality and often the work of others to support and be inspired by.

Typography

In which other medium, if any, do you practice art?:

I used to model digitally and design ads for VR creators.

Would you consider AI-generated art true art?:

I most definitely do. I love the co-partnership with AI.

Please share one or a few of your favorite images with us.:

I’ll share five.

Elza’s favorite images

Do you title your AI-generated art? If you do, what inspires you to come up with these titles?:

I quote the posts, either with a title-fitting theme or the prompts used to inspire and help others.

When do you tend to be the most productive, and do you work in long sessions or short bursts?:

I like working in short bursts.

Transformation

What type of prompts do you prefer: text or AI-generated descriptions through fed images?:

I often reimagine (via Midjourney) AI images from previous years I generated with Dream by WOMBO. Otherwise, I use text and help from ChatGPT text prompts.

When prompting with text, do you write simple text-based prompts or complex ones?:

It varies, but both work for me.

Do you think text-based prompts should be shared within the AI art community?:

Yes, absolutely, nd I think that's most helpful. Considering that AI gives pretty original results also based on personal preferences, that's awesome.

What is the most unconventional method you have used to create an image?:

I would say my reimagining of my own work. The “Describe” tool in Midjourney is a great tool and it always gives original personal style results.

How many images you have generated using AI technology?:

Thousands, or tens of thousands, lol, maybe more.

We See You

Please share your X (Twitter) handle with us.:

@ekdorenbosch

Tell us a bit about your X handle and X username.:

It's simply my real name, although lately, people don't seem to believe that. I don’t know why 🤷‍♀️

How many X followers do you currently have?:

1800+

How many X accounts do you currently follow?:

1800+

How long have you been on X (Twitter)?:

I’ve been on the platform since 2019, but I was inactive. @ekdorenbosch is a new account now.

I will find a way

Is there any other online platform where we can view all of your previous work apart from X?:

Yes, on my website at Safe Backroom Blueprint. There you can find Challenges, Prompts, and Art Themes (Egypt, Militia, Clockpunk, etc.).

In this world of cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), are you currently selling your digital art on any platform? If so, which platform are you using?:

No, I haven't been active in crypto or NFTs at all.

Are you selling tangible AI-generated artwork, such as high-quality prints like Giclée prints?:

I have sold some posters in the past but did not continue.

Could you suggest some AI artists you like that we could follow?:

Is there anything else you would like to add or share with the AI community?:

I would say that tagging on X is not good at the moment as it messes with the algorithm. Also, I follow back Artists, and I always credit Artists.

That's it!

Thank you for considering me for your interviews. I love your work.
