The LIRO Interview
A conversation with AI Artist LIRO, aka @liro_space on X
INTERVIEW CONDUCTED ON MAY 4, 2024
ALL IMAGES BY LIRO ARE GENERATED WITH NIGHTCAFE, DREAMSTUDIO AND MICROSOFT COPILOT UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE
From the very beginning, upon discovering her, I’ve been thoroughly enchanted by LIRO’s art (@liro_space on X). Her Strange World series, in particular, captivates me with its universe populated by looming ships, queens, magicians, warriors, fantastical creatures, and other intriguing beings. LIRO also delights us with whimsical series featuring cats and snowmen, and she brings a touch of refinement to her Urban Grace series, as well as the soft, ethereal beauty of her Pastel series. Overall, LIRO is a remarkably talented artist, and I am honored and grateful to have her join us for this interview.
Let’s discover LIRO together.
Strange World
Without getting too personal, can you tell us a bit about yourself?:
Hello! I am LIRO @lirospace, a generative art artist. I have another X account, @TICECOACHING_YS, my coaching account, and I post images in different styles on both accounts.
Could you please tell us which country you live in?:
I live in Ibaraki, Japan, but I was born and raised in Tokyo.
What led you to begin working with AI imagery?:
I really like art, and I wanted to be Granma Moses. Generative AI tools are convenient for creators. I am familiar with deep learning and machine learning because I am a Japanese-to-English patent translator in these fields, so it was natural for me to use generative AI tools.
What AI tools do you use?:
I use SDXL 1.0 at NightCafe, DreamStudio, and Microsoft Copilot. I also use Imagine Art at Forttalk, exclusive to Japanese users and people in Japan.
What inspires you?:
Anything, including nature, animals, lyrics, song titles, phrases, fashion, artists, etc. I also make music with AI and create short videos.

In which other medium, if any, do you practice art?:
I only use generative AI tools.
Would you consider AI-generated art true art?:
Definitely YES! Generative AI models are new tools for everyone, and everybody is a future artist. In my opinion, AI-generated art redefines traditional art, leading to videos with music, VR, and AR, which are next-generation art. AI tools are definitely a new art medium.
Please share one or a few of your favorite images with us.:
I’ll share nine.

Do you title your AI-generated art? If you do, what inspires you to come up with these titles?:
Yes, I give titles to my AI-generated art series, such as Strange World, Cat, Pastel, etc. I use AI to provide titles. I created my art hashtag, MindScape Realism, #MindScapeRealism, with AI.
When do you tend to be the most productive, and do you work in long sessions or short bursts?:
It depends on my state of mind and efficiency. I usually work long sessions because I like to modify my prompts until I’m satisfied with the results, which generate different images from a single prompt. I provide a wide margin for calculation to AI models.
Strange World
What type of prompts do you prefer: text or AI-generated descriptions through fed images?:
I prefer text prompts with modifiers as parameters and weighting.
When prompting with text, do you write simple text-based prompts or complex ones?:
I write simple text separated by commas. I do not really like “long poem” prompts, which DALL-E3 usually makes.
Do you think text-based prompts should be shared within the AI art community?:
No, I do not think so because, unless otherwise noted, both text-based and coding prompts are protected under copyright laws.
What is the most unconventional method you have used to create an image?:
I prefer simple methods because the use of AI saves time and maximizes productivity.
How many images you have generated using AI technology?:
I have probably generated over 10 thousand images.
